Sim Card & Gsm Remote Camera

The SIM Card connects the GSM Remote Camera to a mobile phone network. In order to use our GSM Wireless and Remote Alarm Systems, you will need to purchase a SIM Card from your mobile phone provider and insert it into the GSM Remote Camera. You can purchase the SIM Card as Pay As You Go (PAYG) from a mobile phone shop, or sign up a standard mobile phone contract with your mobile phone provider, and use the SIM Card for the GSM Camera.

Limitations of Pay As You Go SIM Cards

  • How much credit is left
With PAYG, you do have to check how much credit you have left and there is the risk running of out. This means that the SIM Card stops working without warning. You should activate your GSM alarm system, so it sends a SMS text message at least once a month, otherwise mobile phone providers will disconnect the SIM Card due to inactivity and you will not receive any alert messages.
  • Costs of Pay As You Go
PAYG rates can be expensive compared to a contract.
  • Disconnected if inactive
If the SIM Card is not used after a few months, the mobile phone provider may automatically disconnect your SIM Card, even if you still have credit. It is recommended to send and receive SMS text messages on an occasional basis, to keep it active.

Advantages of signing a mobile phone contract

  • Flexible Credit Limit
You will be notified if you reach your monthly credit limit so you will be aware when excess charges will apply.
  • Lower Cost Usage Rates
Local and roaming rates are much lower then when using PAYG.

  • No Disconnects if Inactive
SIM Card is not turned off during periods of inactivity so long as you continue with your monthly subscription with your mobile phone provider.

Mobile Network Coverage

  • The GSM alarm system must be installed on a place where there is mobile network coverage, to be able to send and receive SMS text messages; same conditions, as for a mobile phone.
  • We are not a mobile phone network provider and do not guarantee the delivery of SMS text messages across a mobile phone network.
